about

"Having to witness the evolution of post-rock can be both bane and blessing. Always a skeptic myself whenever it comes to this genre, I must say with CSBTS I have been bestowed with the latter. No, it is not an easy task for a new band to invoke fond reminiscence to the once post-rock virgin listener and at the same time to script new sketches with a very used quill. ‘1992’ opens with very thought-provoking spoken word over layers of predictable yet gentle early-GYBE-esque build-ups and crashes. And while this may lead to quick judgement that other tracks might breed from the same mould, the rest that follow ‘1992’ unfold like a well-researched well-crafted pop-up book. The story is familiar but there are always new details to discover. There ARE vocals (surprise! surprise!) in other tracks and while I do not appreciate all of it, I do commend them for not forcefully splashing their art across every page. Just when I am about to willingly indulge even further, the story comes to a blissful end. I want more but I can’t and I have no choice but rewind back and start all over. No, it is not an easy task to display your craft to skeptics. For skeptics themselves need even more courage to open their ears without biased conceptions. " - Nadia Almashoor, Collective Zine UK
